(Rushville, IN) – Will Jaisle and Dane Dudley combined on a no-hitter as Batesville went on the road and blanked Rushville 10-0 in varsity baseball Monday evening. Jaisle was dominant on the mound, striking out 10 Lions in four innings of work. Dudley pitched the final three innings, striking out six and walking one. Alex Krekeler went 2 for 4 at the plate and drove in two. Varsity Box ScoreIn the JV contest, it was Batesville over Rushville 12-1 thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning.
Practice Begins for Indy 500

(Speedway, IN) – Today marks the official beginning of preparations for the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500. Drivers and teams begin practicing for the big race. They will practice each day this week from Noon to 6-pm. Saturday will mark the beginning of qualifying with Sunday being the Fast 12 for the pole as well as the Last Row Shootout. There are 34 cars vying for the 33 starting spots on the grid. Race day is Sunday, May 25. (Story by Network Indiana)

(Cleveland, OH) – The Pacers are looking to close out the Cavaliers. Indiana is visiting Cleveland for Game Five of its best-of-seven East semifinal series tonight. The Pacers lead the series 3-1 after punishing the Cavs by 20 points in Game Four. Donovan Mitchell is a game-time decision as listed by the Cavs with an injured ankle. Mitchell left Game Four midway through the 2nd quarter and did not return. The Pacers, on the other hand, are fully healthy and ready to go.

(Versailles, IN) – Mason McNew’s game-winning home run lifted South Ripley to a 10-9 walk off win over Jac-Cen-Del in varsity baseball Monday. McNew went 1 for 3 at the plate and drove in two. Other stars on offense for the Raiders included Ethan Schmaltz, who went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, two triples and a stolen base; Trevor Castner was 1 for 3 with a double and three driven in; Trenton Smith went 1 for 3 with a stolen base, and Brogan Buchanan doubled and was 1 for 3.
BMS Golf Completes Undefeated Season

(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville Middle School golf team capped off an undefeated season when they took first place at the Batesville Invitational Monday night at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club. BMS Team 1 brought home the championship trophy with a team score of 177, led by individual girls’ medalist Stella Maple (42) and Beckett Jones (43). Jax Negovetich and Evan Ibold each contributed a 46 to round out the team score, while Cade Rienschield added a round of 47.
Greensburg HS Students Recognized at Science Fair

(Greensburg, IN) – Several Greensburg High School students are being recognized for their science projects. The school’s 2025 Science Fair on May 6 was a culmination of months of research and data analysis from the seniors and juniors. Each student made a video presentation, discussed their analysis and provided conclusions. A total of $800 in gift cards were distributed to the students.
Jackson County Man Sentenced in 1982 Cold Case Homicide

(Jackson County, IN) – A man in Jackson County was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the 1982 killing of a Seymour man. The victim, Clifford Smith, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head near the White River. Over the years, the cold case was passed to new investigators. Sgt. Kip Main with the Indiana State Police Versailles Post took up the investigation in September 2015, with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Seymour Police Department.
Record Number of Hoosiers Hitting the Road for Memorial Day

(Statewide) – Indiana is expected to see a record number of travelers over Memorial Day weekend, with over 970-thousand residents projected to travel at least 50 miles. That’s according to projections from AAA. Nationwide, more than 45 million people are expected to travel for the holiday weekend, the highest number on record. Unlicensed Gun Dealer Sentenced by Feds

(Indianapolis, IN) – 52-year-old David Joseph Mull of North Vernon was sentenced to four years in prison followed by two years of supervised release after pleading guilty to unlicensed dealing in guns. According to court documents, Mull illegally sold hundreds of firearms without having a license, including to a trafficker moving guns to Mexico. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated this case. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge James Sweeney II.

(Indianapolis, IN) – Hoosier voters will be receiving postcards in the mail from the Secretary of State’s Election Division. The mailings are part of a statewide voter list maintenance. The goal is to identify outdated, duplicate, and inaccurate voter registrations to improve the accuracy and integrity of Indiana’s voter registration list. You don’t have to do anything in response to receiving a postcard.
