The “chance” card from the game Monopoly says: “You are taken to jail. Do not pass go... Do not collect $200.” I played the game a lot as a child in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Board games were one of the non-electric ways we had to pass the time. If you were up for a game of Monopoly, you were making a time commitment of the better part of an afternoon. It was a game not lightly entered into because once the thimble, shoe and car were selected as game pieces, it wasn’t over until it was over.
