The Osceola Police Department continues to grow, with Officer-In-Training Dalton Dodge joining the force. Dodge was sworn in March 31 and will be attending the full-time police academy in June at Northwood Technical College before joining the Osceola Police Department later this year. Like many who find their way into law enforcement, Dodge had thoughts of becoming a police officer early on in life. Watching his brother join the military, he had thoughts of doing the same.

This April, I wrote about Sarcoidosis Awareness Month. I’ve struggled with that disease since being diagnosed last fall and it means a lot to me to get the word out. But this month is a month of awareness that also means something to me; one that I’ve dealt with much longer than sarcoidosis: Mental Health Awareness Month. This certainly isn’t the first time I’ve openly talked about my mental health journey – far from it.

The Baldwin-Woodville boys tennis team won both singles matches that went to a third set April 29, highlighting its 4-3 victory over Osceola. Mason Jordan fell 6-7, 6-2, 10-6 to Benson Campbell at No. 1 singles, as Wyatt Larson lost 6-1, 2-6, 10-3 at No. 2 to Rhett Carlson. Owen Henningsgard won Osceola’s lone singles match, defeating Michiah George, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4.

But after receiving an invitation to attend the Taste of the Draft in Green Bay, many more from across the state now know what the Dalles House team brings to the table. After receiving a phone call, conducting an interview and submitting their popover recipe, the Dalles House was one of 20 supper clubs to be invited to the event that brought the state of Wisconsin together around good food for a good cause.

Quinn Williamson and Jocelyn Shimon finished with three runs batted in each as the St. Croix Falls softball team cruised to the 15-3 victory over Chetek-Weyerhaeuser April 24. “We came to hit,” SCF coach Clayton Hanson said. “They got on the board immediately, but it didn’t bring the girls down. We would get ahead in the count and then put the ball in play.”The Saints won the game with 10 runs in the third inning.
