Experts say spring dryness could go either wayDue to dry conditions, burn restrictions and fire risks have popped up in several areas of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Some might point to a dry winter as the cause of dry spring conditions, but Twin Cities Meteorologist Nick Carletta says there’s more to it than that. According to him, dry conditions could continue or improve and are more reliant on spring precipitation than lack of snow. “We had an overall fairly dry winter,” said Carletta.
Osceola had eight wrestlers named first-team all-conference

The Osceola wrestling team had the most wrestlers of any conference school which was named to the first team all-conference. The Chieftains had eight selections, while St. Croix Central, Ellsworth, and Amery had four each. All eight will return: Juniors Talon Berg and Logan Meyer, sophomores Hunter Kromrey, Isaac Dunnom, Wyatt Hastings, and freshmen Malakai Barker, Cody Meyer and Elliot Havlish.

The results are in for Wisconsin’s April 1 election. In Polk County, 18,626 voters cast their ballots – a 59% turnout. New members will join the Town of Osceola, Village of Osceola and Osceola School Board. Susan Crawford has been elected to Justice of the Supreme Court. Jill Underly was reelected to serve as the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. And the referendum for voter ID requirement amendment to the state constitution passed. Richardson’s three-hit shutout keys win over Osceola

Devin Richardson pitched a complete-game three-hitter, striking out nine and walking one as the St. Croix Falls baseball team defeated Osceola 5-0 April 5. The Saints broke the game open with four runs in the top of the seventh. Drake Peterson had the key hit, a single scoring Trysten Hanson and Brodie Allram. The Saints finished with five overall, with Carter Ridgeway, Allram, Hanson, and Richardson accounting for the other four.
Chiefs comeback falls short against Mondovi

The Osceola baseball team almost completed a comeback against Mondovi but fell short, losing 6-5 April 5. OHS got the start it wanted as Olen Eck hit a two-run homer in the top of the second, scoring Hunter McLafferty for a 2-0 lead. Mondovi grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third thanks to a two-run single by Hunter Wik, scoring Keegan Catt and Hunter Sandberg. The big play came in the fourth as an OHS error allowed three Mondovi runs to score.
