Conor Burke kicked a sensational 17 points off left and right as the Clare minor footballers made it back to back Munster championship wins under the shadow of the Comeragh mountains. The Kilmurry Ibrickane attacker has accounted for 0-29 in just two games. "Conor is an outstanding young fella," manager Joe Hayes claimed afterwards. "A real leader. His tackling off the ball has upped from last year which is important. He kicked 17, I think he had two wides. A real good guy around the group.

Limerick recovered from a seven-point second-half deficit against Waterford to stay unbeaten in the Munster U20 hurling championship. 1-5 off the subs bench, including 1-3 from Mark O'Brien, propelled the Shannonsiders to a strong finish. The visitors could even have snatched victory as four chances went astray in injury time. Four Jack Twomey points (three from play) and six Mark Hartley placed balls left them 0-15 to 0-8 up with 40 minutes on the clock.

Waterford's first piece of silverware in three years. Six straight wins for Peter Queally's men ahead of their Munster championship opener against Clare at Walsh Park on April 27. What a turnaround from the opening day defeat to Carlow. Patrick Curran was a late replacement on the Waterford team for the injured Jack Prendergast. Déise captain Dessie Hutchinson won the toss and chose to play with the wind in the first half.
