As the Iowa State women’s basketball team stumbled through parts of the 2024-25 season, the Cyclones picked up some much-needed momentum late in the year when guard Kelsey Joens jumped into the starting lineup. That boost is now gone. Joens, a sophomore guard this past season, has entered the transfer portal, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told the Register on Monday. She has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

After Emily Ryan completed her college career, the Iowa State women's basketball team hit the transfer portal, looking for some experience at the guard spot. The Cyclones now have it after Jada Williams, a former five-star recruit and star point guard for Arizona the last two seasons, announced on Instagram Wednesday that she's transferring to Iowa State. A star, both on and off the court, will be making her way to Ames.
