    BELMONT, N.Y. — Allegany County issued a state of emergency on Friday night, citing dangerous flooding and road conditions, putting in place both a Travel Ban and a Travel Advisory for different areas until further notice. This comes after a Flash Flood Warning was issued for parts of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties until 11:45 p.m. Friday. Areas around Cuba, Friendship, and Alfred have seen some of the worst of the flooding.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. — A big transformation is on the way for Seneca Street in Buffalo. Starting next month, the city will kick off the first phase of a $23 million reconstruction project. The initial phase will focus on the area between Wildwood Place and Mineral Springs Road. Upgrades will be made to roadways, sidewalks, curbs, and streetlights. City leaders said Friday the goal is to breathe new life into this busy corridor, and to make things more smooth for drivers and pedestrians.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. — Students from three local schools launched their hand-built boats into Hoyt Lake on Friday. The event was part of the Buffalo Maritime Center's annual student boat launch. The students have been working on the boats all school year through the Maritime Center's Hand-To-Hand Student Boatbuilding Program. Organizers told 2 On Your Side the program teaches useful skills in and out of the classroom. Those canoes will be available to rent at Hoyt Lake all summer long.

    BUFFALO, N.Y. — Warmer weather is here, and the Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival is officially back. The 21st annual festival will be hosted by Hope Chest Buffalo at Buffalo RiverWorks, located at 359 Ganson St. More than 30 teams from across Western New York come together for day of racing, celebration, and community. The opening ceremony, called Awakening of the Dragon, is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday.

    OLCOTT, N.Y. — A beloved historic popcorn stand in Olcott is making a comeback. Bye's Popcorn announced on social media Friday that the owner's children will keep the family tradition alive and run the stand. This comes just two months after the property and business went on the market. The stand closed last summer following the owner's passing, but now a real estate site lists the property as pending sale.
