1 INTRODUCTION The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recently published a framework on fairness, inclusion and nondiscrimination on the basis of gender identity and sex variations.1 This was followed by the publication of a position statement providing an explanation of the framework.2 The stated aims of the position statement were to demonstrate how the IOC Framework aligns with existing scientific and medical knowledge and to assist with implementation.
