    WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A McLennan County judge placed a former Texas State Technical College student on deferred probation in the 2019 shooting death of another student, 15 months after another judge rejected the same plea agreement. Judge Alan Bennett of Waco’s 474th State District Court accepted a plea bargain between Taylor McKibben and the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office that called for McKibben to be placed on deferred probation for seven years on a reduced manslaughter charge.

    WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Waco police arrested an 18-year-old Waco man Thursday night in what investigators are calling a drug-related murder near an East Waco Drive restaurant last week. Jarvis Dominique Howard Jr. remains in the McLennan County jail under $750,000 bond in the May 15 shooting death of 30-year-old Jeromy Munoz. According to an arrest affidavit, Howard and Munoz had been in contact by telephone and arranged a meeting in the parking lot of Church’s Chicken, 1325 E. Waco Drive.

    WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A Waco gang member charged with a variety of crimes, including aggravated robbery, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday. Dimera Dashun Baty, 30, a documented member of the 59 Piru Bloods, a national criminal street gang, pleaded guilty Thursday to four felony offenses arising from two separate incidents in 2020. The charges against Baty were enhanced because he has prior felony convictions for evading arrest in a vehicle and burglary of a habitation.

    WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A former Waco man named in a sealed indictment in April 2022 was arrested Wednesday on charges he sexually abused a young girl over a nine-year period. Mauricio Rodriguez, 53, also known as Maurilio Geronimo, remains in the McLennan County Jail under bonds totaling $25,000 after his arrest on continuous sexual assault of a young child, sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by contact charges.
