The Las Vegas city manager has approved allowing qualifying parking tickets issued between May 19 and June 30 to be paid with donations of school supplies, according to a news release. Any supplies taken in by the city through the program will be donated to the Public Education Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

The 90s are back for the Las Vegas Valley. Hitting triple digits sometime soon could be in the offing. Las Vegas is expected to reach 99 degrees on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Winds from the east and southeast will be 13 mph to 18 mph in the morning, with gusts reaching as high as 29 mph during the day. The low Thursday night will be around 70, with southwest winds 9 mph to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

A suspect in a deadly stabbing this month at an apartment in the east Las Vegas Valley has been arrested. Delvison Escalona-Hernandez, 26, was taken into custody Wednesday by the Los Angeles Police Department, according to a Metropolitan Police Department news release. He is being held at the North County Correctional Facility pending extradition to Las Vegas. Police were called just before 11:25 a.m. May 4 to an apartment in the 3200 block of East Desert Inn Road, near Boulder Highway.
