A 75-year-old man died after ignoring a red light and crashing his bicycle into a vehicle last month in Mesquite. The crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. April 27 at the intersection of Pioneer and Oasis boulevards, according to a Nevada Highway Patrol release. The man, who was riding a 2018 Cannondale Supersix EVO bicycle, was later identified as Richard Lee Wiggins of Mesquite.

A man is dead after a stabbing Sunday morning at an apartment in the east Las Vegas Valley. Police were called just before 11:25 a.m. for an apartment on the 3200 block of East Desert Inn Road, near Boulder Highway, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release. Officers found a man suffering from apparent stab wounds. Medical personnel responded and transported him to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Timmon Betts, 24, is facing charges of disregard for the safety of a person or property resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, and destroying/concealing evidence, according to a Henderson Police Department news release. The shooting occurred just before 9 a.m. April 22 in the 1200 block of Wigwam Parkway.
Nevada prisoner sentenced in federal court for threat to judge, anthrax hoax

A Las Vegas man already serving time in state prison was sentenced Wednesday for mailing letters that threatened a federal judge and sparked an anthrax scare. Hadari Stallworth, 29, will serve 18 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release. Senior District Judge John A. Mendez handed down the sentence.
