Scaler Music has released Scaler 3, a much altered and enhanced version of Scaler. While I was a big fan of both Scaler and Scaler 2, I feel the product has now left me behind in terms of both cost (I’m a hobbyist) and functionality (some of the UI changes are great, but I have no interest in a lot of the new features).

I saw Steve Hackett on the Genesis Greats, Lamb Highlights and Solo tour, and even a few weeks later, it may just be the best of his shows I have seen (of maybe half-a-dozen or so, scattered over the decades). Yes, the Seconds Out tour was very good (and I finally saw Supper’s Ready performed), but something about this gig really connected. The band seemed really up for it. The opening new numbers I found really powerful. The Lamb sequence (see the linked setlist above) was good.

The Great Chain of Being, requisite study material in my high school history class, was the medieval concept that everything in creation exists in a hierarchy. At the top is God, followed by angels, then the pope and the king, then priests and princes, then the rest of humankind. Below us are the animals, then plant life, then mineral matter. The beings at the top are incorporeal, pure spirit; the rocks at the bottom are pure matter, no spirit.

Earlier this year, when Hawkwind announced some concert dates, I have to say I didn’t rush to book. Then Dave Brock fell ill, and we learned this tour might not even happen and future gigs were at best uncertain / doubtful. Since then it seems the Captain has improved and there’s a suggestion of a Hawkeaster next year. Meanwhile, back in Bath…A short walk from the station, Bath Forum is rather lovely inside, if not massive.

Euro 2024: England v Netherlands

England’s slow progress from poor to not bad brought a 2:1 win against the Netherlands. To be fair (and dodgy penalty aside) the team played well. Late seeming substitutes brought the prize with Ollie Watkins’s goal and we’re off to Berlin for the final. The mood in general is one of Spain by far the best team in the competition mixed with a little maybe it’s just our time? Of course, it’s the hope that kills you, and this evening will be another tense watch drenched in emotion.
