COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — Tuesday marks one year since the life of a Colorado Springs father and husband was cut short by violence. The victim's wife is sharing more about what happened the night of June 17, 2024, at Remington Park on the east side of Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department initially reported they were called to the area in the 3100 block of Heather Glen Dr. at about 9 p.m. on reports of a large disturbance.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — Thousands of people are expected to fill downtown Colorado Springs this weekend for a protest and Pride events. Saturday marks the start of Pikes Peak Pride at 10 in the morning, while a No Kings Rally is scheduled to start at noon at City Hall as a response to President Donald Trump's military parade. Organizers of No Kings in Colorado Springs wrote that the rally is a nationwide day of defiance. At the top of the minds of many for both events is safety.

The lesser-known charge of DUI refusal is the focus of a current campaign being run by both the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Colorado State Patrol to highlight Colorado's Expressed Consent Law.

LAMAR, Colo. (KOAA) — An anonymous tipster reached out to News5 Tuesday morning saying he called 911 multiple times fearing for his life as his bus traveled from Texas, through Oklahoma to Colorado. The tipster made the call to our newsroom while at a gas station in Lamar, when his bus driver was contacted by law enforcement. The tipster and others tell News5 the driver was allegedly speeding, weaving, and yelling at passengers.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KOAA) — A homicide investigation was underway Wednesday morning in Colorado Springs. Police tell News5 at least one person died and the call came in at 9:45 Tuesday night as a stabbing in the area of N. Carefree Circle and N. Academy Boulevard. The cause of death has not been confirmed as a stabbing. Police were still at the scene when News5 arrived in the neighborhood at about 4 a.m. Wednesday.
