The campaign gives kids the chance to get books for free in order to start building their own library at home. News5 caught up with students at Rogers Elementary School in Colorado Springs Wednesday morning. Students got the chance to pick five books for themselves. Some of the top genres were fantasy and natural science.

    CAÑON CITY, Colo. (KOAA) — Veterans in Cañon City need help to fix roof damage at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4061. Peter Ziehli, Incoming Post Commander of VFW Post 4061, contacted News5 for help. "The more leaks, the more the materials deteriorate, and the more the safety problem becomes," said Ziehli. Ziehli estimates that fixing the roof damage would cost $150,000. He says financing the cost has not been easy despite his efforts.

    DENVER — On Tuesday, Lyft sent Governor Jared Polis a letter, asking him to veto a Colorado bill that aims to regulate rideshare companies. The same day, women who were attacked by a man pretending to be a rideshare driver called on the governor to sign the legislation into law. The sponsors of House Bill 25-1291 said they worked hard to ensure flexibility for rideshare companies and the future implementation of the bill, while respecting consumer choice.

    AURORA, Colo. — A man who was reportedly trespassing at a private park-and-ride lot that serves the Denver International Airport was shot and killed by an Aurora police officer Monday evening. The Aurora Police Department said it received a 911 call about a suspicious person trespassing at an "off-site airport parking lot" in the 19900 block of East 56th Avenue around 3 p.m. Scripps News Denver crews at the scene confirmed the shooting was at The Parking Spot, located at 19901 East 56th Avenue.
