An Austin funeral home owner has been charged with multiple felonies after police accused her of tampering with bodies and fabricating death certificates. Adeline Bui was arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with a government record. Her Travis County Jail records and police affidavits became public Wednesday. She could not immediately be reached for comment.

A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced Austin investor Nate Paul to five years of supervised release, including four months of home confinement, and ordered him to pay a $1 million fine within two years in a long-running fraud case. He also must spend a day in jail. The case received widespread attention after Paul turned to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for assistance during the federal investigation. Paul accused authorities of improperly raiding his property in 2019.

Two people were in critical condition and four others injured on Sunday after a home explosion rattled Northwest Austin, severely damaging homes in a residential area off U.S. 183 near McNeil Road. Multiple emergency officials from the Travis County Sheriff's Office as well as the Austin Police Department and Austin-Travis County EMS responded to calls at 11:23 a.m. to the 10600 block of Double Spur Loop.

After months of fighting to shield records detailing the highly unusual expense of using taxpayer money to secure his home, Travis County District Attorney José Garza has settled a lawsuit with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and agreed to release the documents. The agreement ends part of a nine-month open government battle that began when the American-Statesman and KVUE-TV sought records related to the publicly funded security enhancements to Garza’s private residence.
