News Brief Monday October 28, 2024 9:39 am As Bay Area teachers continue to struggle with affordable housing, two bond measures — Santa Clara Conty’s Measure R and San Mateo County’s Measure K — would support school facilities upgrades, including building affordable housing for educators and school staff, KQED reported. If Measure K is approved by voters, some of the $153 million would be allocated to construct housing for teachers.

The association surveyed 1,517 teachers across the country and found that 70% ranked cell phone use as one of their top five concerns. It ranked second behind academic achievement.

Low-income Mexican residents who live within 45 miles of the U.S. border are eligible. Tuition at Southwestern College in Chula Vista is approximately $550 for California residents and $5,000 for non-residents, according to KPBS.
