Located in Eastern Washington, not too far from the border of Idaho, you’ll find the smallest city to ever host the World’s Fair—Spokane. Walking through the streets lined with mainly local shops selling everything from books and art to groceries and kitchenware thoughtfully arranged in window displays, one can’t help but feel that this is a city you can actually take a deep breath in. At the southern gates of California’s Central Coast, just a half hour drive north on the scenic U.S. Highway 101 from Santa Barbara, lies the Santa Ynez Valley AVA. Consisting of over 42,000 acres with more than 100 wineries, this valley is home to  a quaint Danish-inspired town (similar to our very own Leavenworth, Washington), noteworthy horseback riding and hiking trails, and is a short distance to gorgeously preserved state beaches and bluffs.

Gouais Blanc has been DNA tested and proven to be a parent grape to the more well known wines we love like Chardonnay, Riesling, Colombard — and about 75 other varietals as well. With this, it’s no surprise that we can appreciate the aromas of apples and cinnamon, magnolia flowers, and citrus.

Nestled between the bustling metropolitan cities of San Diego and Los Angeles lies a quaint 33,000-acre AVA at the southern gates of the Inland Empire. The Temecula Valley is home to more than 40 wineries, all within a few minutes drive from one another. Tucked between those tasting rooms? Rolling hills of vineyards, fine dining, live music and sensational places to stay.
