Second coordination sphere modulation during water oxidation with metal-hydroxide organic frameworks Herein, we have explored NiFe-hydroxide organic framework (bridging ligand = chloranilic acid) for the electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The anodic activation of the precatalyst forms active catalyst (AC-2) consisting of Fe-doped α-Ni(OH)2-γ-Ni(O)OH having a second coordination sphere interaction with the ligand chloranilic acid.

Nitrate-coordinated FeNi(OH)2 for hydrazine oxidation assisted seawater splitting at the industrial-level current density In this study, we developed a nitrate-coordinated iron-nickel hydroxide [NC-FeNi(OH)2] catalyst for hydrazine oxidation-assisted seawater splitting. Replacement of O2 evolution by hydrazine oxidation in a two-electrode setup resulted in a cell voltage of 1.20 V at 100 mA cm-2.
