The planet has suffered a catastrophic 73 per cent decline in the average size of monitored wildlife populations in just 50 years, a new report says. WWF's latest Living Planet Report chronicles unsustainable declines that have occurred at breakneck speed relative to the earth's natural history. It charts how observed wildlife populations plunged over the five decades from 1970 - the year the Beatles split and Australia was gripped by protests against the Vietnam war.
