    Melanie and Keith Manuel, the latest owners of the original Freihofer house in Saratoga Springs, are in the enviable position of having a kitchen with a style so old it's new again. Well, maybe enviable is overstating it a bit. But their cabinetry — red laminate with brass accents custom-made for the Freihofers — is a style popping up on HGTV shows regularly these days, she says. In time, with money, the Manuels plan to redo it with more natural materials.

    You may remember Tumi Oguntala from season 15 of "The Biggest Loser." She won the at-home prize of $100,000, losing 175 pounds along the way. The goal, she said at the time, was to get healthy before her wedding. Well the wedding is here and she's been on another reality show, "Say Yes to the Dress." The episode airs at 9 p.m. Friday on TLC.

    By Tracy OrmsbeeIn the summer of 1998, a professor of natural sciences at Paul Smith’s College, Curt Stager, celebrated the slow return of moose to the Adirondacks in a column in a newly launched magazine, Adirondack Explorer. The animals, nearly eliminated by hunters during the 19th century, Stager noted, were up to about 100 in the park.
