Adirondack Explorer

The Adirondack Explorer is focused on promoting the responsible use, enjoyment, and long-term preservation of Adirondack Park by offering a distinct journalistic perspective. Launched in 1998, this nonprofit organization shares its insights through a bimonthly magazine and various digital platforms, including the widely-read online news journal, the Adirondack Almanack (http://www.adirondackalmanack.com). The magazine highlights the people, landscapes, and political issues of the area, with a particular focus on the Park's wildlife, natural features, conservation efforts, and recreational activities. Each edition features multiple stories about adventures you and your family can experience in the Park.

It was a perfect place for people skeptical of institutions and suburbia. They bonded over a shared love for wilderness.
