File photo: Sam JamesAs mountain bikers, we love to argue… ah, I meant, politely share our opinions. Whether mechanical vs. electronic shifting, tire inserts, or, perhaps, the most controversial, our feelings on e-bikes, we’re not shy about letting our voices be heard. So, it is time for another “this or that” conversation, exploring brake rotors and how they are mounted to the hub. Are you in the six-bolt camp or on the center lock side of things?

All photos courtesy Lars RomigTrail maps of Sedona, Arizona, show a spiderweb of trails branching out from the city’s central hub. Adding one or two trails here and there, like Hardline, is doable. Given the limited space, it’s hard to imagine fitting any more trails into the surrounding mesas. Even so, more trails are coming… and not just a few. Over the next few years, a massive 35 miles of singletrack will be added to Sedona’s Turkey Creek zone.

Tiddlywinks Trail. File photo: Greg Heil. Bend, Oregon, has long been a mountain biker’s paradise. The Central Oregon Trail Alliance (COTA) manages a massive trail footprint in Bend and surrounding Central Oregon communities. Now, proposals to add about 20 more miles of singletrack over the next few years have been approved. The new trails will help reroute around sensitive areas, get riders off fire roads, and provide first-of-its-kind (for Bend) DH trails at the popular Wanoga Trailhead.
