It’s crunch time for Alabama high school football and regions are being decided. That includes 3A Region 8, where Fyffe can clinch the title with a win over Geraldine. The Bulldogs handed the Red Devils their only loss of the season in 2023. Now Geraldine has a chance to give them their first region loss of 2024. With a win, the Bulldogs can also force a three-way tie for the region lead. The Red Devils are led by Clemson commit Logan Anderson.

Share The Third Saturday in October has always been special to Huntsville native Butch Worley. His grandfather played at Tennessee and he grew up going to the game, whether it was in Knoxville or Tuscaloosa. Then he became a kicker at Alabama in the 1980s. “It’s a whole lot more than a game,” Worley said. “This week is really a huge part of my life.” As kids who spent a lot of time in Guntersville, he and his best friend Gary Huckaby Jr. hatched a plan.

The road to winning 7A-Region 4 almost always goes through Austin and James Clemens. The Jets or Black Bears have won the region every single year since 2016. “Both of us have been a little bit more consistent to stay up top,” Austin head coach Jeremy Perkins said.  The Jets captured the region title last year, but Austin beat them head-to-head 28-7. “They know what’s at stake,” Jets head coach Chad McGehee said about his players.
