LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Jackson County man assaulted his father with a handgun in Summit Township and now faces charges for his actions, according to the sheriff’s department. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies and Michigan State Police troopers responded to an assault at Taylor St. in Summit Twp. at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. The office says dispatch advised first responders that the handgun was pointed at the father inside the home.

(WLNS) — June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month, and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is sharing gun injury prevention resources to help keep families safe. The MDHHS says that gun-related injuries are the number one cause of death among children and adolescents in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released reports that 45,222 children and adolescents died in firearm-related incidents in the U.S. in 2020.

The Michigan Department of Transportation first received reports of the crash at approximately 12:53 p.m. All lanes are blocked. Officials are asking drivers to avoid the area.

President Donald Trump announced the strikes on Truth Social, “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.”“All planes are now outside of Iran air space.
