The Los Angeles Lakers have begun their search for a new head coach with interviews having already taken place. A number of names have been linked to the position with the likes of James Borrego, JJ Redick, Sam Cassell and Kenny Atkinson all being potential candidates. However, the Lakers job isn’t the only head coaching position that is open as the Cleveland Cavaliers fired their coach J.B. Bickerstaff following their postseason elimination.

The Los Angeles Lakers have announced three games for its 2024-25 preseason schedule, presented by Delta Airlines. While more preseason games will be added at a later date, the Lakers will play a pair of games at the Acrisure Arena in the Greater Palm Springs area. First up will be a contest against one of the best young teams in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves led by All-Star Anthony Edwards on Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. PT. That will be followed by a game against the Phoenix Suns on Oct.

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to take their time and do a thorough and extensive search to find their next head coach. A couple of potential names have already been taken off the market with Charles Lee and Mike Budenholzer taking over the Charlotte Hornets and Phoenix Suns jobs, respectively. But there are plenty of worthy candidates still available including a number of top assistant coaches looking for their first opportunity to prove they can be a head coach in the NBA.

Whenever the Los Angeles Lakers have an early exit from the postseason, there is a lot of noise surrounding who should be moved to improve the roster. A player that has experienced a fair amount of change and rumors through his first three seasons with the team is Austin Reaves. However, after establishing a solid core during the back half of last season, general manager Rob Pelinka opted to keep the Lakers’ core together.
