A Tennessee product from the Tony Vitello era is returning to MLB. Former Vols' third baseman Trey Lipscomb was recalled by the Nationals on Wednesday. He was recalled after starting third baseman Paul DeJong sustained a pitch to his face April 15 and was placed on the 10-day injured list. Lipscomb was selected by Washington in the third-round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft (No. 84 overall). He played at Tennessee from 2019-22 and won the 2022 SEC Tournament and regular-season championship.
