    IndyCar star Pato O’Ward has been linked with a move to Formula 1 for some time. Previously a part of the Red Bull junior team, he has been testing cars with McLaren since 2021. The Mexican signed to the McLaren driver development programme in 2023, making FP1 appearances in Abu Dhabi in 2023 and Mexico City in 2024. O’Ward will return to his home race in 2025 to gain extra F1 mileage and provide data for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

    Fernando Alonso has suffered his worst start to a Formula 1 season since his McLaren days in 2025. He has failed to score a point after six races. The two-time champion is one of four drivers to be pointless in 2025; the other three being F1 rookies in Jack Doohan, Liam Lawson and the Spaniard’s protege Gabriel Bortoleto. Alonso was not even classified in the championship until the Japanese GP, having retired from the opening two races.

    Jorge Martin has informed Aprilia of his decision to leave the manufacturer at the end of the 2025 MotoGP season. It comes after it was discovered that the defending champion has an exit clause in his two-year contract that allows him to leave if he is not in a competitive position after six races. Martin informed Aprilia at the French Grand Prix that he would be activating said clause. This is despite the fact that the Spaniard has only competed in one race for the Noale-based manufacturer.

The Mexican landed a full-time seat in 2020 with McLaren, after they purchased a 75 percent stake in Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. Since then, O’Ward has been regularly fighting for podiums and wins. Achieving a highest finish of third in IndyCar in 2021, his performances caught the attention of Zak Brown and the McLaren F1 team.

    Johann Zarco claimed an unexpected win at the Grand Prix of France. The 34-year-old has become the first Frenchman to win on home soil in the premier class in 71 years. It has been a long time away from the top step of the podium for Zarco and Honda. The French Grand Prix is only Zarco’s second win in MotoGP; he grabbed his first at the 2023 Australian Grand Prix. Zarco’s victory is also Honda’s first since 2023, when Alex Rins won the Americas Grand Prix.
