Seven Lakes has learned to play under pressure. The Spartans have become a tested squad throughout the year, facing tough games throughout the season in non-district and throughout the first half of district play. Seven Lakes has been steadily growing and getting better, but one thing they had lacked in district play was a win in a game where they were tested all the way to the wire.

The I-10 shootout is set to return to Katy, as some of the strongest teams throughout the state will gather to compete in brackets hosted by nine of Katy ISD’s schools. It will be a first look not just at Katy ISD schools, but some of the top schools in the area and state and will culminate with games played at Legacy and Rhodes Stadium on Saturday as teams gear up for district play.

For the second straight year, Cinco Ranch’s Kassie O’Brien is taking home the top honors from District 19-6A. O’Brien was named the district’s MVP for the second straight year, taking the honors by herself for the first time in her final year in Katy ISD after a tremendous year for Cinco Ranch where the Cougars continued to set records.

Katy had its best season in decades last year. The Tigers earned 21 wins, made the playoffs and achieved almost every goal they set for themselves in the process in Michael Elizondo’s first season as head coach, achieving their best result on the hardwood since the early 2000’s. But the Tigers come into this year hungry and wanting more. They aren’t satisfied with their success last season. The goal this year is to take a step further. So far, that mission is coming to fruition.
