IN the week it was announced that women are, on average, leaving it til they’re 35 to start a family, it’s little wonder the rumour mill is going at full pelt that the reason Maya Jama and Stormzy have split is because at 29, she’s not ready to settle down yet. I vividly recall Lily Allen’s candid admission: “My children ruined my career. In terms of pop stardom, totally ruined it”.

LO and behold. Within hours of Kym Marsh taking to social media to declare her love for a new man 19 years younger,  the trolls set to work. There were comments galore aimed at the 48-year-old actress and singer, along the lines of: “He looks like your son” and “I like you, Kim, but keep it to yourself.”Lest we forget, trolls rarely, if ever, say things from a place of love. These comments came from a place of discomfort, jealousy and with the sole aim of shaming.

IT’S hard to imagine for some that this 56-year-old bird once featured on the covers of many a lads’ mag in decades gone past. But it’s true. I did. Recently I was asked how I felt about having been splashed across the cover and centrefold of them. Had I believed I was being used or objectified? Had I considered myself cajoled into stripping off with less than a handkerchief to protect my dignity and spare my blushes?

DON’T they look grand posing in their slinky dresses. The picture of Penny and Rachel, with Renee between them, says: “Look at us, all happily blending, being besties. No bad blood here!”And it IS a lovely pic. Whatever water has gone under the bridge, it’s clear that Rachel and Penny are happy to put on a united front for the sake of the (adult) children. And let’s face it, Rod has a lot of kids. Last count eight. With 123 women, I believe.

THE news that TV’s golden couple, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, are separating sent shockwaves through the world of showbiz and beyond. Fans were stunned and bewildered by last week’s announcement, onlookers full of disbelief. The couple — who presented ITV’s This Morning together for 15 years — have always been considered one of the strongest working and married TV partnerships. I think we all need to be forgiven for our collective disappointment that all that glitters isn’t always gold.
