The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) on Wednesday said Eidul Fitr is likely to fall on March 31. In a statement, the commission said that given scientific parameters, the likelihood of moon sighting on March 30, 2025 in Pakistan was high. “Consequently, Ramazan is expected to complete [in] 29 days, and the first day of Eidul Fitr will likely be observed on 31 March 2025,” it said.

Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday issued production orders for PTI Senators Ejaz Chaudhry and Aon Abbas Buppi, instructing the authorities to ensure their presence in tomorrow’s Senate session. This was not the first production order issued for Chaudhry, who is imprisoned at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail. In January, Gillani issued a production order for the PTI senator, who has been incarcerated for at least 19 months, so that he could attend the Senate session on January 14.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar informed the Senate on Tuesday that a total of 7,208 Pakistani prisoners have been released from Saudi prisons between 2019 and 2024. This was revealed in a written response to a question from Senator Dr Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur regarding the announcement made for the release of 2,107 Pakistani prisoners in Saudi jails during the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Pakistan in 2019.
