1. Introduction Salmonellosis remains one of the most frequent foodborne zoonoses in the EU, with 60,050 human cases (15.7/100,000 inhabitants) in 2021. In the last year, S. Enteritidis, S. Typhimurium, and the monophasic variant of S. Typhimurium (mST) were among the most reported serovars, with the latter two mainly associated with contaminated pork (EFSA and ECDC, 2022).
