Den 13. september kom nyheten om at den nye eieren av Deichman, Møller Eiendom, skal huse en egen Oslo-avdeling av Fotografiska. Nyheten ble presentert som om Oslo med dette hadde fått en gave. Fotografiska er visningssteder for fotografi med avdelinger i Stockholm, New York, Berlin, Shanghai og Tallinn. Det er ingen tvil om at etableringen av Fotografiske i Oslo vil gi penger i kassen til Møller Eiendom, men alt som glitrer er som kjent ikke laget av gull.

While Brazil and Colombia are winning plaudits for reducing their rates of deforestation, Peru seems to be setting itself in the opposite direction. The country has the second largest portion of the Amazon, after Brazil, but has lost more than 2.7 million hectares of forest (about the size of Haiti) over the past two decades, according to official figures.

I don’t think the bunch of young and desperately inexperienced people who, against all conventional advice, launched a consumer magazine on ‘Third World development’ in 1973, could have dreamed that it would still be published 50 years later. I doubt their initial backers, Oxfam and Christian Aid, thought so either. But here it is and here we are.
