In the dying days of Joe Biden’s presidency, Jack Lew, the US ambassador to Israel, expressed concern about the changing views of his country’s politicians. ‘You can’t ignore the impact of this war on future policymakers,’ he said. ‘Not the people making the decisions today, but the people who are 25, 35, 45 today and who will be the leaders for the next 30 years, 40 years.’ Lew thinks this generational shift among Democrats is dangerous. I find myself hoping it’s real.
