THE shingles vaccine lowers the risk of a heart attack or stroke for up to eight years, new research shows. People given a jab to protect against the painful rash illness have a 23 per cent lower risk of potentially deadly cardiovascular events. The findings, involving more than 1.2 million people, were published in the European Heart Journal.

A WOMAN who went through a ‘mummy makeover’ has described how it left her with rotting flesh and permanent nerve damage. Erica Zaccone underwent the knife in February 2024 to have a tummy tuck, a breast lift and liposuction - otherwise known as a 'mummy makeover'. She had been waiting 15 years to get the $25,000 (£19,000) op, but now regrets it after being left ‘deformed’. Erica, from Toms River, New Jersey, US, said: "This destroyed my life. THOUSANDS of heart attacks and strokes could be prevented with a combination of two drugs, a new study suggests. Patients who were given statins as well as ezetimibe within 12 weeks of a heart attack had better prognosis. They were able to lower cholesterol faster and were at less risk of a new cardiovascular events or death than those who received the add-on ezetimibe between 13 weeks and 16 months, or not at all, according to the study.

SKIN cancer patients are set to get a potentially life-saving vaccine, as part of the expansion of a “ground-breaking” NHS trial. The needle-free injection boosts the immune system, helping the body recognise, attack and ‘remember’ cancer cells - to help stop the disease from returning. It will be given to those patients diagnosed with advanced melanoma - the deadliest form of the skin cancer, which causes 2,340 deaths each year in the UK - from next month.
