ZESA Holdings says normal power supplies from Hwange Power Station will resume on Friday after tube leaks affected all the units causing an emergency outage at the coal-fired plant. In an update yesterday, Zesa said immediate corrective action was taken, including isolation of the treatment plant and flushing out of all affected systems while water supply had since been stabilised and is now adequate for plant operations.

Sesame is a highly sought-after crop, particularly in the Asian markets. For the couple, the task of growing it is quite easy and cheap but with lucrative returns. “Last season was our first attempt to plant Sesame seeds,” Mapfumo said.

A GLOBAL rights group has called on the diplomatic community to press Zimbabwean authorities to release Heart & Soul TV (HStv) senior journalist Blessed Mhlanga. Today marks 56 days of Mhlanga's stay in prison. Mhlanga faces charges of transmitting messages inciting violence. The charges emanate from an interview he had with outspoken war veteran Blessed Geza, which was broadcast on HStv. In the interview, Geza accused Mnangagwa of corruption and called for his immediate resignation.

WOMEN and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) has said gender-based violence (GBV) continues to cast a dark shadow over communities. WLSA director Isheanesu Chirisa said women remained exposed to all forms of GBV because of lack of empowerment. “When women are denied access to education, economic independence, leadership roles and justice, they are also denied safety and dignity,” Chirisa told NewsDay on the sidelines of a stakeholder meeting on GBV.
