JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Former Jackson City Councilwoman Angelique Lee resigned from her seat as the representative for Ward 2. Many residents tell 3 on Your Side they were shocked and disappointed when they first heard the news about Lee’s resignation. “When I first heard the breaking news that came on. I’m like, this is so unfortunate,” said Wanda Aultman. Soon after Lee resigned on Wednesday, she pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of conspiracy to commit bribery.

SUMMIT, Miss. (WLBT) - Summit police officer Troy Floyd was shot and killed Thursday while working a routine checkpoint. A passenger in a vehicle, now identified as 25-year-old Usher Leonard, approached the checkpoint, fired a gun, and shot and killed him. This is a day Summit and McComb Police Departments and Summit residents will never forget. Schaeffer Walls lives and works in Summit. She also knew Floyd and believes this is a tragedy that could have been avoided.
