If the most recent Fullerton police killing, of Jose Naranjo Cortez, was reminiscent of the 2011 killing of Kelly Thomas (homeless guy beaten and suffocated to death by a pile of Fullerton cops), the one before THAT, the fatal FPD shooting of Pedro Garcia last March, was more reminiscent of the fatal 2020 FPD shooting of Hector Hernandez.

That’s really something – Andrea McElroy (previously Andrea Young), candidate in the special election to fill the Area 5 seat on the Newport-Mesa USD this month, Andrea whose ballot designation is “businesswoman,” was sued TWELVE TIMES in the 16 years between 2007 and ’23. Who gets sued THAT often, and by all sorts of businesses and people?

Jose Naranjo-Cortez, killed by FPD on Easter; Pedro Garcia, killed by FPD a month earlier; Alejandro Campos-Rios, killed by FPD a year before that. Over the past 13 months Fullerton police have killed three Latino men, none of them armed, all experiencing some sort of mental problem. All of these killings were unnecessary. Is this a pattern?
