A fire broke out inside a small gym near Sing Bar and Sno-Ball Too on the city's Southside. According to fire investigators, a treadmill caught fire in the gym located on the 7100 block of Saratoga Boulevard, near Rodd Field Road, around 8:20 p.m.Fire crews arrived and extinguished the fire within ten minutes. Luckily, no one was injured, but the fire forced nearby businesses to shut down while fire crews worked. Those businesses are expected to reopen soon.

A Duval County man has been sentenced to 120 days in jail, two years after killing his friend in a single-vehicle rollover crash. On May 26, 2023, Louis Anthony Pena, then 18 years of age, was driving drunk on FM 1554 in Jim Wells County when he lost control of his Ford F250 pick-up, went into a ditch, and rolled over through a fence into a pasture. His passenger, 18-year-old Alexander Guerra, of San Diego, died at the scene just hours before his high school graduation.

NUECES COUNTY, Tx — Plans to try to bring a Texas State Veterans Home to the Coastal Bend has taken its first step forward. As KRIS 6 reported Tuesday, Nueces County Commissioners were scheduled to vote on a resolution to support a Veterans' Nursing home in Robstown on Wednesday. Currently, the two closest State Veterans Homes are in McAllen and Floresville. Both are about a two-hour drive away from the Coastal Bend. The Texas Veterans Land Board runs the Texas State Veterans Homes Programs.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tx — The battle over the naming rights to the American Bank Center has been shifted from behind closed doors to a public discussion. According to Tuesday's city council agenda, City Council members Carolyn Vaughn, Eric Cantu, and Sylvia Campos have asked that the issue be placed in the June 10 city council agenda. They are asking the council to vote on a resolution that would support awarding the naming rights of the convention center to the highest bidder.

Their preliminary investigation indicates the two men involved in the altercation stabbed each other. ********ORIGINAL:Port Aransas Police are investigating a double stabbing in Port Aransas that left one man dead. According to Lt. Mike Hannon with the Port Aransas Police Department, they received a 911 call at 6:30 pm from the 600 block of Sandy Lane.
