The Texas measles outbreak continues to grow, and the Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting 505 cases and 57 hospitalizations. Two unvaccinated school-aged children who lived in the outbreak area have died. The outbreak includes Cochran, Dallam, Dawson, Gaines, Garza, Lynn, Lamar, Lubbock, Terry and Yoakum. Ten of the cases have occurred in patients with at least one dose of the vaccination, and 351 of the cases are in children under the age of 18.

According to the latest report from the State Health and Human Services Department, there are now 422 measles cases across 19 counties in the state, with 42 hospitalizations. Lamar County on the Oklahoma border, and Erath and Brown counties southwest of Fort Worth are the closest confirmed cases to Texas. More than 300 cases are children below 17 years old, and only five of the cases were amongst vaccinated individuals.
