Elite litigation firm Susman Godfrey has become the latest law firm to be targeted with an executive order by President Donald Trump. The order was signed by Trump on Wednesday (9 April) and echoes earlier orders targeting Perkins Coie, Paul Weiss, Jenner & Block and WilmerHale in restricting Susman employees’ access to federal buildings, instructing agencies to terminate contracts with the firm and its clients and revoking its lawyers’ security clearances.

Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom and Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz have been called in for the sale of Versace by Capri Holdings to Prada for nearly $1.38bn in cash. A Skadden team led by corporate counsel Cristina Tomassini and partners Sandro de Bernardini and Peter Serating in London and New York are guiding Prada on the deal, which will create a multi-billion dollar fashion group positioned to compete with French luxury fashion conglomerates like Kering and LVMH.

Sidley Austin has hired a co-head of Cravath Swaine & Moore's private equity practice, as the firm continues to build a bench of top dealmakers in New York. Dave Perkins has made the move after almost 20 years at Cravath, which used to be immune to partner departures but has seen rainmakers exit in recent years amid intense competition for talent among leading law firms. At Cravath, Perkins worked with clients including American Securities, BDT & MSD, Brookfield and ECN Capital.

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Paul Weiss are advising US private equity firm Stonepeak on its agreement with Woodside Energy, repped by Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF), to provide $5.7bn in funding for a LNG development in Louisiana. Simpson Thacher's team is led by energy and infrastructure partners Eli Hunt and Javad Asghari. The firm is guiding Stonepeak, which oversees $72bn in AUM and specialises in infrastructure and real assets, on the transactional aspects of the deal.
