    Appleby’s British Virgin Islands (BVI) head of disputes has been made a BVI King's Counsel (KC), the first such appointment since 2013. Andrew Willins’ appointment took effect earlier this month, when the advocate received his Letters Patent from the Governor, Daniel Pruce. KC appointments are made on the recommendation of the Silk Advisory Committee, a body appointed by the Chief Justice, which includes serving judges.

    Moroccan law firm URITI has hired a partner from UGGC Avocats to co-lead the firm from a new office in Paris. At URITI, Africa specialist Laurent Sablé will team up with Kenza Bounjou, a former Dentons partner who founded the Casablanca-based firm in 2022. Sablé, who worked out of UGGC‘s Paris and Casablanca offices, brings nearly 30 years of experience advising clients on M&A, private equity, corporate matters and international arbitration, with a focus on Africa.

    Blackstone Chambers junior Tim Parker has been nominated for appointment as a Senior Counsel at the Bar of Hong Kong. Parker, who is also a tenant at Temple Chambers in Hong Kong, is one of three barristers nominated today by Chief Justice Andrew Cheung of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal (CFA). The other nominees are Catrina Lam of Des Voeux Chambers, who was called to the bar in 1999, and criminal barrister Priscilia Lam of Plowman Chambers, who was called in 2000.
