TWO charity events have been organised to honour and remember ‘beautiful angel’ Gemma McHale. Forever remembered by those who knew her, the 20-year-old, who was from the Castlederg area, was tragically killed in a car accident in Co Fermanagh in May 2012. In her memory, the McHale family host events such as these annually as a way to bring the community together in friendship and exercise, to help raise funds for important local causes, and to keep Gemma at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
New artwork project in Omagh celebrates power of community

A VIBRANT celebration of creativity and community spirit has taken centre stage at the Omagh Digi-Hub, as a new art installation was unveiled in honour of Neurodiversity Celebration Week. The artwork, created by participants from the NOW Group in collaboration with local artist Pauline Harte, now brightly adorns the enterprise hub – a space developed by Woodvale Construction Company Ltd for Omagh Enterprise Company.

A SPECIAL gala evening of music, drama and award presentations concluded what was, once again, a hugely successful Dungannon Festival. THE beautifully-scenic trail of Bessy Bell has been crowned ‘Fermanagh and Omagh’s Favourite Walk’ following a public poll. The survey, conducted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, found that the walk nestled between Omagh and Newtownstewart emerged as the top choice among more than 500 participants who voted for their favourite hiking route. Launched in December, the poll invited the public to choose from 46 stunning walks featured in the Fermanagh & Omagh Walking Guide.
Curtain set to rise on popular annual drama festival in Strabane

THE prestigious 39th annual Strabane Drama Festival will open next week at the The Alley Theatre. Beginning on Friday, March 14, the festival will feature nine of the top drama groups from throughout the country coming with exciting and mainly entirely new productions for Tyrone audiences. Speaking to the ‘Herald, festival director, Ciara McCay said that the event promises to be a ‘great success all-round’. “The standard of productions will be extremely high,” Ciara said.
