WASHINGTON (7News) — It is the 50th anniversary of the deadly Operation Babylift plane crash that happened during the collapse of South Vietnam in 1975. President Gerald Ford ordered the evacuation of 3,000 Vietnamese orphans. On the first operation flight out of Saigon, on April 4, 1975, 250 children, along with American volunteers, were loaded onto the C-5A cargo plane.
