While the U.K. Parliament is discussing a new Bill on immigration and border security, and enforcing tighter visa norms, Dame Angela Eagle, Minister of State (Home Office), the U.K., met Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan in April this year. In the April 15 meeting, which was not publicised by either government, they are said to have discussed, among other things, faster verification and return of Indian migrants detained in the U.K. for illegal stay or entry, and action against criminal gangs.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has asked the Rajasthan government to probe the authenticity of Income and Asset (I&A) certificate submitted by an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer which he used to avail the Economically Weaker Sections’ (EWS) quota while appearing for the Civil Services Examination in 2021. The officer, a domicile of Rajasthan, was selected for the IAS in the year 2022 and was allotted the Madhya Pradesh cadre.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official who was arrested for alleged espionage activities by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) earlier this week had information and photographs on his phone that he allegedly shared with his Pakistani handlers, a senior government official said on Tuesday (May 27, 2025). The arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) reportedly told CRPF officials that he was “trapped” and could not escape his circumstances once caught in it.

The Union Government is considering a new policy for Ladakh under which citizens who have had a continuous 15-year stay in the region, beginning 2019, will be considered domiciles, according to a consensus reached at a high-powered committee meeting between civil society leaders and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) officials on Tuesday (May 27, 2025).
