Propylene is an important chemical used in the production of polypropylene, propylene oxide, propylene carbonate, and many more useful chemical compounds. High propylene demand and low industrial production motivate propane dehydrogenation (PDH) technology for propylene production. CrOx and Pt–Sn catalysts are employed for industrial PDH, occurring via the nonoxidative route. Cr-based catalysts face serious health and environmental issues.

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is the oldest premier technical institute of India. It was established in the year 1847 and was named “The Roorkee College”. Later in the year 1854, it was renamed as the “Thomson College of Civil Engineering”. Post-independence, it was renamed as the “University of Roorkee” in 1949. In the year 2001, it was declared as an institute of national importance and acquired the status of “Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee”.
