Atrial fibrillation (AF) remains a common, costly, and high-morbidity condition impacting patients across the whole spectrum of healthcare. The high and ultimately preventable risk of stroke and other thromboembolic events associated with AF1 has driven the generation of clinical risk scores to help determine which patients would benefit from oral anticoagulation.
