I think there is another, much more practical, point: people size. A nearly 6' man over 280 lbs is going to struggle mightily to fit comfortably in any sedan, much less modern sedans. The overwhelming majority of new vehicles are bought by people over 40 (most by people over 50). Nearly one half of that group is clinically obese.
