The solemnity and seriousness of Holy Week are very evident in the Church of St. Bernard Abbey in Cullman. Crucifixes and images of saints are covered with violet cloth as Christians “fast” from the beauty and comfort of sacred images. Even the Abbey’s huge 10-foot Great Cross is shrouded, its bright colors invisible until Easter. Christians around the world are celebrating Holy Week. It begins on Palm Sunday and lasts through Easter Sunday.

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday approved a slate of upcoming special events, while tabling a request from Michael McBrayer for the annual Rock the South music festival at York Family Farms in July. According to Council President Jenny Folsom, public safety staff have not yet completed and submitted their final reports. The council did not point to any issue between the City and RTS, treating the matter as routine.

The new site at 417 Third Ave. SW Suite 135 in the Cotton Creek complex, opened on March 19, 2025.

CULLMAN, Ala. – After a pause to make sure he was ready, Retired U.S. Army Col. Don Fallin has reentered the campaign for the Alabama House District 11 seat vacated when former Rep. Randall Shedd, R-Fairview, moved to a position in the office of Sen. Garlan Gudger, R-Cullman. Fallin is a Fairview native who graduated from Fairview High School before attending the United States Military Academy at West Point.

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday welcomed faculty and students from Cullman City Schools to celebrate achievements and get an update on happenings in the system. Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff and Technology Integration Specialist Misty Waldrop introduced two students who recently won district competitions in the Governor’s App Challenge, a statewide computer programming competition.
