DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Time is running out for travelers in Iowa who haven’t yet upgraded to a REAL ID. Starting May 7, 2025, you’ll need a REAL ID—or another federally accepted form of identification, such as a passport—to board domestic flights or enter certain federal facilities. At the DMV in Davenport, there’s been a steady stream of visitors, many stopping in specifically to get their REAL ID ahead of the deadline.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - Tears, hugs, and heavy emotion filled the courtroom Friday afternoon as a jury delivered its decision in the murder trial of Johnell Smith. Smith was found guilty of first-degree murder and home invasion in connection to the 2023 death of 17-year-old Danny Taylor. Jurors deliberated for nearly eight hours before coming back with the guilty verdict.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - The trial for Johnell Smith is nearing its end as jurors prepare to decide his fate in the shooting of Danny Taylor. Smith, who is facing two counts of first-degree murder and home invasion, took the stand earlier in the day to testify in his own defense. He claimed he was forced into the home invasion and acted out of fear. Smith said Napoleon Jackson ordered him to drop his gun before they kicked in the locked door together.
