The DVSA has issued a warning to drivers to be vigilant of a crucial legal limit, stating it is "not always safe". The government has cautioned that you must not exceed the speed limit for the type of road and your vehicle type, putting road users on high alert. "The speed limit is the absolute maximum - it does not mean it's safe to drive at this speed in all conditions," warn both the Labour Party government website and the DVSA.

A 16-year-old boy has been killed and an 18-year-old seriously injured in a horrific hit and run in Sheffield. The boy who died was a pedestrian and the 18-year-old man was on an E-bike when they were both hit by a grey Audi. Horrific footage shared online showed the awful events unfold. Police said the grey Audi fled from the scene. Two arrests have been made - a man and woman in their 40s are both being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A school has decided to ban smartphones following an incident where a pupil's phone was found with 9,000 messages sent overnight on a year's WhatsApp group. The decision came after a debate around safety was sparked when a pupil at Blackhorse Primary School in Bristol forgot to pick up their mobile at the end of the day. For the past few years, pupils had been permitted to bring smartphones to school, but were required to hand them over to the teacher during lesson time.
