AbstractCRISPR-associated Cas12 proteins are a highly variable collection of nucleic acid-targeting proteins. All Cas12 variants use RNA guides and a single nuclease domain to target complementary DNA or, in rare cases, RNA. The high variability of Cas12 effectors can be explained by a series of independent evolution events from different transposon-associated TnpB-like ancestors.

IntroductionUltrasound refers to sound waves with frequencies above 20,000 Hertz (Hz), which exceeds the human hearing range of 20 Hz–20 kHz. With its high frequency and short wavelength, ultrasound has linear propagation capabilities within a finite distance, high beam focusing and excellent directionality features (Dell'Italia et al., 2022). Moreover, ultrasound is a noninvasive technique for neural regulation.
