A 13-year-old child is dead after a horse and buggy collided with a passenger vehicle. It happened on Line 71 near Listowel on Monday afternoon just after 4:00. Perth County OPP says two people in the buggy were taken to hospital with serious injuries, the teen was pronounced dead at hospital. The second person, an eight-year-old, was taken to a trauma centre. The driver of the passenger vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The horse also died.

Good news for those of us looking to shake off the southern Ontario cold this winter and don’t want to tackle a big city airport. Flights to Mexico and the Dominican Republic will be doubled at the London International Airport (YXU). Normally just scheduled for one departure a week, Air Transat says because of demand, flights will take off twice a week to Punta Cana and Cancun beginning in December. This is the first time Air Transat has ever doubled its seat capacity out of London.

The City of Stratford is reminding everyone that winter hours for paid parking kick in on Wednesday and carry through until March 31st. To park in any paid parking lot space, you must pay between the hours of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Beginning on December 1st and continuing until April 1st people visiting downtown Stratford will be able to park four hours for free on Saturdays.

You can now get your COVID-19 XBB vaccine, and the flu shot in Perth and Huron Counties. They are available for everyone aged six months and older. You can get your COVID-19 shot if it has been six months since your last vaccine or if you had a confirmed infection. “We know that COVID-19 continues to circulate, and that flu has arrived in Huron Perth,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth. “Both viruses can lead to serious illness, especially for older adults.

A reminder to people who use the Albert Parking Lot in downtown Stratford. Beginning Monday until November 3rd the pay by plate machine will not be available as work is done to install four new EV charging stations in the lot. If you wish to park there you can use the HotSpot App to pay or at any on-street meter or nearby parking lot including Kalbfleisch, Upper Erie or Lower Erie.
